When I first started using Upwork, I did what most people do.

I looked at the rates.

If it was high, I applied. If it was low, I skipped it.

It made sense, and it felt right, but it wasn’t

So many people fail on Upwork because they don’t realize:

High rates don’t automatically mean strong opportunities. The work could be messy, expectations unclear, or difficult clients. It is easy to walk into underpaid chaos disguised as a premium project.

Some of the best projects don’t look impressive at all. They are easy to scroll past because they don’t scream for attention.

Even when you find the right opportunity, it means nothing if the proposal is weak, generic, or rushed. The proposal is what actually positions you as the obvious choice.

This is the difference between wasting time and landing six-figure clients:

Knowing how to spot red flags and quickly filter out the wrong opportunities, so you’re not wasting time on demanding clients, unrealistic scopes, or work that will never justify your rate.

Being able to recognize the right opportunities, even when they don’t look impressive at first glance, because you understand the signals that point to clarity, structure, and real long-term potential.

Submitting proposals that don’t just “apply,” but clearly position you as the solution to the client’s problem, making it easy for them to feel confident choosing you over everyone else.

There were times I seriously doubted if I was meant to be an entrepreneur. I tried every social media strategy, but nothing worked.

I did it all, and ended up exhausted, without clients. Here's what I wish I knew earlier: Social media isn’t the best place for finding accounting clients. The trust needed doesn’t come through in reels or captions.

Plus, conversion rates on social media are super low – only around 0.9% to 1.7%.

So I did something all the gurus warned against.

I quit social media and turned to Upwork.

I know what you're thinking: "People only lowball you there," or "There aren’t serious clients."

I thought the same.

But I was burnt out and frustrated. I figured anything was better than spending endless hours on social media.

Here's the surprise:

There are high-quality, high-paying clients on Upwork. You just need to know how to find them and respond with trust and competence.

Plus, freelancer marketplaces convert better than social media—around 15% - 27%—because people are there with intent, ready to hire.

That intentional shift led to:

Booking $12,500 in contracts in just 87 days.

A six-figure business with just two clients.

I reclaimed hours each week by not creating content.

My mental health improved without the pressure of social media.

Not because I’m special, but because I stopped doing something I hated.

If I could achieve this, imagine what's possible for you!

Want to hear more details? Listen to me share my story here:

➡️ Here’s a quick action for today:

Watch this short video on searching Upwork: Quick Upwork Search

Spend five minutes reviewing listings.

This isn’t about winning jobs, it’s about seeing that serious firms are hiring on Upwork.

Tomorrow, I’ll break down the mistakes that cause people to fail on Upwork and how to avoid them.

This isn’t just another email mini course. It’s personal because I've been in your shoes.

I tried everything to find accounting clients on social media. Spent thousands on courses and coaches, rewrote my profile countless times, and poured hours into creating content.

I followed all the advice for years.

✅ posted thought-provoking content
✅ posted reels
✅ sold in stories
✅ engaged with others

But it led to endless comparison, pressure to stay visible, and no clients.

Have you ever stopped to ask yourself: How much time am I spending on social media compared to the clients I'm getting?

➡️ Here’s the first thing I want you to do: Calculate how much time you spend selling on social media in a week.

Go to your phone and check your screen time to see how much time a week you spend on social media.

Then add in the time you spend on:

Coming up with content ideas

Creating graphics

Recording videos

Editing content

Scheduling or posting

Engaging on social platforms

⭐️ Bonus: reply to me with your calculated time.

Whatever your final number is, I’m confident that this mini course will show you a better way to book more clients, faster and with less effort.

Tomorrow, we’ll tackle the biggest myth holding experienced accounting business owners back and what actually works instead.

I’m so glad you’re here!
